IAFF 1763 Named Top Boot Drive for MD

Once again, delta firefighters have set the standard for raising money in the annual MD Boot Drive.

Total monies collected for this year amounted over 35,000 dollars. The fire department and its members have raised money for the muscular dystrophy for 17 years. In total, they've collected $467,250 from donations given by Delta residents.

The muscular dystrophies are a group of genetic and hereditary muscle diseases; characterized by progressive skeletal muscle weakness, defects in muscle proteins, and the death of muscle cells and tissue.

Monies raised go towards the purchase of new equipment, research and various support services.
